Things were not going as they were supposed to; this was not the wake up that he thought that he would be getting. There were no cues, no debriefing, no handler to point him in the direction that he needed to go and let him off leash to do his mission. No, he was in a cage, bound and muzzled and she was here giving him information that no one had ever bothered to give him. No, she was giving him information that people specifically avoided letting him know about, and he would have been suspicious about her motivation to do so except she seemed to be struggling as much with him as he was with her.

"Let me out of these restraints, and I'll do it myself," he said softly, flexing his arms for real this time rather then his little tests against the locking mechanism. It was strong, very strong, but the locking mechanism also had a flaw to it that he could easily exploit. "There's no need to turn up the warmth in here; it will only make it worse."

He waited, expecting some kind of mission, some kind of debriefing to take the edge off of the situation. Something familiar, anything familiar. Yet, he went very still at the idea there was nothing coming down the line for him. Why was he thawed then? "I don't get thawed without a mission objective. What is it?"
