As tenuous as their bond was, she was still able to somehow feel the moment he got angry –even if she wasn’t exactly sure about the reason, she knew Tony could be quite annoying but the man hadn’t said anything yet to piss Bucky off unless it had been the nickname. Her expression fell a bit when he left the kitchen before she could say anything to him and she turned to glare at Tony a bit. The man just held up his hands and moved to get his coffee looking as innocent as he could manage; she just sighed and decided to leave her bond mate alone for the time being.

And maybe that was why, after that incident in the kitchen, Stephanie had made it a bit of a mission to spend as much time with Bucky as she could manage without being to overbearing or grating on his nerves. Which no one in the tower questioned, since it wasn’t rare for soul bonds to try to gravitate to each other and be near the other after a long separation or if something that had endangered their lives had happened, God knew that had happened when Clint returned and Natasha hadn’t let him out of her sight, Stephanie was kind of doing the same in a way.

She did missed her best friend and soul bond, she of course knew things wouldn’t be the same, but she had no trouble adapting to who he was now and she hoped she was showing that to him.

But every time, every time she felt as if she was making some progress, somehow Tony appeared and did something that seemed to set off Bucky and he ended storming off, which left her starting all over again and with Stark looking a mix between amused and expectant as if waiting something, really Pepper should return like ASAP since he clearly was to bored and unpredictable without his bonded around.

She was hoping that today things will be better; Bucky had after all agreed to have breakfast with her after what had happened the previous night when Tony had clung to her and whined about being bored. “I was thinking about going to the park today, do you want to come with me?”

She had been pouring coffee for them when low and behold a very sleep deprived Tony appeared, made a bee line for the coffee, stealing a mug and promptly pressed a kiss against her lips, “Thank you, babe, just what I needed!” And just moved to find the sugar, leaving her standing there in shock and feeling maybe just a bit uncomfortable.
