When she passed him, there was a rightness to the short distance between them. He had no idea why that would be as he never felt so drawn to other people, independent as a weapon that he was. He was only slightly drawn to his handlers, but it was more an acknowledgement that they were in position to order him to do as they needed. This was different, more potent and it confused him as much as the very idea that she might actually be his. He didn't own anything save the chair where he so frequently sat for maintenance and preparation work.

He curled a lip behind his mask, sensing that she wasn't telling him everything. When she bolted, his instinct was to pursue. If one was going to act like prey, he would act the predator and frequently did. He closed the distance fast too, exploding into motion and instead of forcing her to the floor, he skidded around her to block the exit with his body. He wasn't even winded.

"Answer."
