Steve stepped back, but he only did it so that he could keep his eyes on Bucky. Whoever or whatever he was, he'd meant what he'd said. "To the end of the line," he repeated. He ignored any feelings that might have roused, hearing those words in that tone. "And I didn't say I didn't like your gift, I just said I wasn't the only one who understood the difficulty."
He paused, but only for a moment. Could he have gotten up there? Yeah. He could now, actually, but he didn't see much point. Not yet, anyway. "You coming down?"
