In his own way, he was confident that being close to her would enable him to gather back all the pieces that seemed to jab his mind at times but with little context. He knew that she knew everything there was about him, and he could have it back if they stayed close to each other, protected each other like old times because that's what friends did for each other. He had already decided on this, and he would see it through to the end as well.

On his feet again, he allowed his arms to dangle loosely at his sides as he watched her with great interest. She had accepted him as easily as he had hoped that she would, like the best friend that she was and always would be to him. Her heart was kind, her spine made of steel, and her mind willing to accept things or change them to suit her moral code. It was exactly what he wanted, what he believed he needed, and it felt so good to have it presented to him.

He nodded and wallowed in the warm feelings in his chest when she said she wouldn't leave. Perhaps she had no idea how right she was about that. At the mention of 'Sam', he shrugged his shoulders. "He probably shouldn't come here. I can get us out just fine so no one knows."
