The silence that fell between them after that question was probably enough to let him know she had no idea of what to proceed from there, as it was she had no new leads about possible Hydra agents and whatever she might have hoped to have, well clearly it had been taken care of by Bucky already and she might need to wait a bit. “We will see from there.”
And surely she could ask him if he had more information or leads, which he probably did, but she preferred for them to be settled where they were supposed to be before having this talk. For the moment, it was clear that she didn’t wanted to talk about it anymore, she needed to gather enough of her wits to deal with the fact that her life had taken quite a change in less than an hour, she kind of blamed him for it, despite the part of her that was happy he was back at her side.
For the moment she focused on driving and the distraction of the music, allowing her mind to go blank for the time being, still knowing mostly out of instinctive memory of having taking this path enough times to lead her and maybe humming just a bit when a song she knew and had learned started, this kind of disconnection was probably a bit worrisome but it helped her to brace herself for what was about to come.
When she came back to herself, due to the familiar sound of a garage door closing, it was to realize they had arrived to the place that was going to serve as a hideout for them for the time being and in a way it was perfect, while they were other houses around, there was enough space in between them to make them a bit secluded and the place was calm enough that no one will notice anything weird just yet, she will need to go and properly thank Sam for this once this was over…maybe even Tony and that just sucked.
She sighed again, turning off the engine and moving to get out of the car, now feeling a bit restless. “Come on then.” Moving in such a small space without proper weapons more than a set of keys was probably dangerous with him around, but now, being here she realized she didn’t cared at the moment, he had more than enough chances to hurt her and he hadn’t yet, so for the time being she was safe.
they love their fire in that series okay.
