Which may or may not be a good thing

He was aware better than most how dire the situation was because he had seen the inside of Hydra, had been part of he inside of Hydra, so he knew how it operated. He might even know better than Stephanie how dire their situation was, and it was the first time he recognized the fact that he would abandon her to make himself the larger target, to draw away pursuit and sacrifice himself body, mind and soul to keep her safe. His last chance of structure, his last chance for a bit of humanity, and he would probably let Hydra torture him to give her more time to get away. The darker side of him recognized the sacrifice as something to bind her to him, that he would give up so much to someone who wouldn't be able to cope with him being so badly hurt. He warred internally with his motivation on that decision as she slipped beyond him and went into the bathroom.

He waited until he had heard her sinking into the tub before he pulled the key out of his pocket and unlocked the door to the room he was given. He pushed open the door and stepped in two steps before ghosting out again and slipping into her room to investigate first in complete silence, taking his time and moving to the drawers were she no doubt at least had a weapon. There was the phone he had seen her put in there, and he was curious about that as well, just to see what numbers were in it in case he needed to make a nasty call himself at some point. Let her soak in the tub, he'd pretend to be trying on clothes and instead be looking for clues of what she did and didn't know.
