[ It was deep in the night when Steve made his way to his prince's chambers. The castle was quiet after the raucous three-day celebration of said prince's birthday, and the guards have yet to make their rounds back here again -- but even if they did, no one would question the captain of the King's personal guard for being in the vicinity.

Even then, tongues would wag, and the last thing Steve needed was for more sordid rumors of the both of them flitting about. He had not yet given Bucky his gift, an ornate but deadly dagger in a box wrapped in silk.

He slipped into Bucky's chambers and locked it behind him, before he climbed into bed behind his still sleeping lover, remembering the past few times he had woken him up in the most pleasurable way possible, when he was buried deep inside his prince before he even stirred awake from his dreams, when he kissed him awake and made love to him all over again after that.

Right now, he pressed a soft kiss against the nape of his neck, an arm winding around him almost possessively. During the day, Bucky belonged to the people -- but his nights always belonged to Steve. ]
